Gasarc is a small organization based in Gampaha, Sri Lanka. Gasarc is starting to gain more and more influence on the movement of the Sri Lankan population. The organization was founded in 2012 by Pusphakumara, a former cricket player and coach in Sri Lanka.


Achieving a active an healthy Sri Lankan population and learn to how live like that, with exercise as the most important remedy. The organization tries to achieve this to let the population experience and learn in a quality and pleasant environment. An example of this is korfball, as this is a mixed gender sport, which provides new insights and mentality opportunities.


Build a healthy mind and body through sports, exercise and physical activities. The social side of exercise is the guiding principle here, as it encourages people to keep moving.


Providing information about the importance of a life full of (physical) movement for both, young and old. The organization strives to achieve a culture in which health and exercise are paramount. One of the most important activities that is offered is the mixed gender sport korfball.


Special education, primary schools, diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure, osteoarthritis, older people, asthma / COPD, children with mobility poverty, urge, secondary schools and preschools.


Korfball (in collaboration with the Dutch Korbal Association), cricket, aerobisc, zumba, personal training, body training, information and sports activities during schooltime or after schooltime.


The founder of the Gasarc organization is Pusphakumara Madurapperuma, studied at the University – Sports Sciences at the University of Peradeniya (2009). He learned about the importance of Physiology and many more subjects related to health care and physical movement/ education. He experience that these subjects are not popular in Sri Lanka and the people don’t know about how important it is for the General Health. Pushpakumara has 18 years marketing experience before starting this institute and put the name GAMPAHA SPORTS ACADEMY AND RECREATION CENTER. In Sinhala means gasarc (Gasak) a tree. A tree is always given shadow for people and its gives many benefits to the nature. Human’s are also a product of nature.

At 9th September 2012 was the opening of Gasarc. Puspakumara Madurapperuma thanks all the people who has been involved and given tremendous support to the born of GASARC!
